About the YMCA

Through 25 YMCAs, hundreds of after-school centers and three camps,
the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles helps people live balanced, healthy
lives and build community.

Strong communities start here.

The YMCA is here for everyone — people of every belief, ethnicity and income. Thanks to donors, the YMCA is able to keep programs affordable and provide financial assistance to ensure no one is turned away from membership for inability to pay.

The YMCA is a non-profit who is dependent on your donations!

As a non-profit organization according to federal and state tax laws, the YMCA does not pay property or income tax. To qualify as a non-profit, an organization must provide services that contribute to the betterment of life in the community and use funds generated above expenses to improve or expand programs. According to this and other criteria, the YMCA earns its tax exemption every day!

Read the IRS Form 990 to learn more about the YMCA’s fiscal responsibility.
