Who can participate at the YMCA?

Everyone is welcome - the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles is a membership organization open to all people: women and men, girls and boys of all ages, races, ethnicities, religions, sexual orientation, abilities and financial circumstances. Programs and branches embrace diversity, reflecting the needs and composition of the communities they serve. Financial assistance, to the extent possible, is available for those in need.

What makes the Y unique?

The Y is a values-based, character-building, nonprofit membership organization that plays a vital role in contributing to the community. Our values of respect, responsibility, honesty, caring, faith and fun are in everything we do. We plan our high-quality programs around essential elements to help kids grow up caring and responsible. Our staff is caring, competent and experienced. Our training includes safety, management modules, CPR, First Aid and more.

At the Y, young people can develop new skills, increase self-esteem, and make new friends while having fun in safe, nurturing environments. Families can build stronger bonds by engaging in activities together. Seniors can socialize and improve their health, while adults can find release from their busy lives. People of all ages and abilities can build a healthier spirit, mind and body while becoming more engaged in their communities.

How do I become a member?

Becoming a member is easy! You can complete the Member Enrollment Form ahead of time and visit the Welcome Center at a time that is convenient for you. Please bring a photo ID. We'll talk with you about which membership would best fit your needs as well as your health and wellness goals. You can make your initial payment (the enrollment fee plus your first month's dues, pro-rated), we'll set up a monthly bank draft and issue you a membership card. You can start working out that day!

We're (almost) always open!

Mon-Thu, 5 am-9 pm

Fri, 5 am-8 pm

Sat, 8 am-3 pm

Sun, 12-4 pm

How much does it cost to become a member?

YMCA fees vary depending on the category of membership you choose. There is a one-time joining fee and monthly membership fees. There is no contract so you can stop or place your membership on hold at anytime. Membership categories include:

> Family Membership (one or two adults as well as all dependent children under 18)

> Adult Membership (18 years and older)

> Youth Membership (Ages 12-17)

> Choice Membership: Unlimited access to the 23 full facility YMCAs of Los Angeles

What happens if I can't afford the membership fees?

Through the generosity of donors, the YMCA is able to help if you can't afford the full membership fees. All YMCA members receive the same membership benefits, regardless of whether or not they are receiving financial assistance and your application is processed confidentially. Please speak to a Membership Representative for more information or call 626-723-YMCA (9622).

Do you offer family memberships?

Yes. The YMCA's Family Membership is for one adult or two adults and all dependent children under 18.

What is the YMCA Membership Satisfaction Guarantee?

Should you decide to stop your membership within the first 30 days, you may request and will receive a full refund of the joiner's fee and your monthly dues.

Can I use every YMCA with my membership?

The AWAY (Always Welcome at Ys) Program allows you access to more than 2,300 Ys across the united States and in 130 countries and territories around the world. Visiting members are always welcome by showing their Y AWAY membership card. Some local restrictions apply. Please call ahead prior to your first visit. Check out www.ymca.net for the nearest Y you are planning to visit.

Also, if you choose the Choice Membership, you'll enjoy the freedom to use all 23 of the full-facility YMCAs that are part of the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles.

What is included with membership?

As a Facility Member, you can use all the facilities and participate in many of the programs offered - as often as you want! There may, however, be additional fees for instructional programs, such as swimming lessons and martial arts. Check out your YMCA's programs for more information.

Do you offer child care while I exercise?

Absolutely! Many of our YMCAs offer Child Activity Center, a caring and fun environment where children ages 6 months - 7 years old can play and make friends while you work out. There is no extra fee and no advanced reservations are required! Child Activity Center hours:

Mon - Fri, 8:30 am - noon and 4 - 8 pm

Sat, 8:30 am - 1 pm

Can I bring a guest with me?

The YMCA is a member organization and seeks to encourage memberships through guest privileges. Members are invited to bring a guest with them to enjoy the Y at no additional charge (photo ID required and they’ll need to sign a liability waiver). Guests may also sign up for a 7-day pass to extend their YMCA benefits beyond a single day. Guests under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult (with a photo ID) who remains on the premises at all times. Guests under the age of 18 must provide emergency contact information and a signed liability waiver by a parent or legal guardian.

How do I cancel my membership?

At the YMCA, there are no contracts for the length of your membership. If you need to cancel or place your YMCA membership on hold, please check with your local YMCA 15 days before your automatic monthly fee transfer date so that we can stop the transfer and provide next steps.

How can I update my information with you if I move?

When you become a member, you will receive a YMCA User ID and Password allowing you to manage your membership account as well as register for programs and make a donation all online.
