This remote jewel is located near Mammoth Lakes in the High Sierras and provides for tent camping and adventure programming for up to 250 teens and families at any time. Program capitalizes on the available resources throughout the eastern Sierras.

History

Located near Mammoth Lakes, the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles High Sierra Camps provide a venue very different from the traditional residential camp. The High Sierra Camp is designed for both older youth, who have reached the peak of the progressive camping experience in the YMCA, and as a teaching tool to develop adults as YMCA outdoor leaders. Most campers stay in tents, although there is a small dormitory space above the dining hall. The program is geared toward high adventure activities that offer youth the opportunity to develop and hone their skills in the wilderness.
