It’s no surprise our Youth Basketball program is offered in partnership with the Los Angeles Clippers®. After all, did you know that basketball was founded at the Y? James Naismith, a teacher at the international YMCA training school, invented the sport in 1891!
Through positive coaching, our Jr. Clippers Youth Basketball program teaches young athletes the fundamentals of the game while building their confidence, getting them active, and helping them learn valuable lessons in teamwork, sportsmanship and leadership.
Our Jr. Clippers Basketball program and basketball leagues run year-round and are open to both boys and girls. We make sure each child participates in every game and receives equal playing time, regardless of skill level.
In addition to practices and league play, Jr. Clippers participants receive many unique opportunities, including FREE basketball clinics hosted by the LA Clippers.
Play together. Grow together.

Will you honor any special requests?

What can I expect from the league?
The YMCA strives to provide the best basketball experience possible for its participants. Focus is on teamwork, fair play and skill development. We have excellent volunteer coaches and parents and quality referees. Age groups and genders may be combined to accommodate league participants. We work hard to make balanced teams and provide divisions with safe and fair competition.
Returning players (from the Spring 2016 season and beyond) may continue to use the same uniform. All new players or players requiring a replacement must purchase a uniform. Cost is $30, and the uniform may be used for subsequent seasons.
