What can I do?
Locally, nationally and throughout the world, volunteers founded the YMCA. Volunteers
started the Downey Family YMCA in 1941 and it has been led by volunteers, serving on the Board of Managers, ever since.
You can make a big difference.
As a YMCA volunteer, you can lead a group exercise class, coach a basketball team, greet people at the front desk, serve as a role model for young people, or help out at a special event. No matter how you help, your time and talent go a long way to strengthening yourself and others in spirit, mind and body.
How do I apply?
Volunteers in YMCA programs go through a similar interview and training process as paid staff. This process ensures the best fit for new volunteers, while also ensuring the safety of our members, participants, staff, and other volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, please call 562-862-4101 or print the Volunteer Interest Form.
