4th Annual Luncheon
On June 17th, our Weingart YMCA Wellness & Aquatic Center hosted its 4th Annual Luncheon at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. Each year, the branch invites members, employees, volunteers, donors and community leaders to join together in celebrating the community spirit that makes Weingart Wellness & Aquatic Center so special.
In between a gourmet lunch and Weingart YMCA Wellness & Aquatic Center’s slide show, every eye was glued to two adorable girls dressed in tutus who handed out the 2014 Weingart YMCA Community Spirit Awards. This year’s esteemed recipients include Chet Pipkin, Founder & CEO of Belkin International, LLC, who received the Legacy Award for his continued involvement and support of the Y. California State Assembly Member Isadore Hall, III also received the Leadership Excellence Award for his impactful work in the 64th Assembly District, which several LA Ys. In addition, Andy Carrasco of SoCalGas was presented with the Champion Award, the Family Award was given to Y Member Jose Lopez and his family, and the Youth Achievement Award was bestowed upon Y Member Samuel Martin.
The inspirational spirit of the event was felt by all when Keynote Speaker Melva Benoit, best known for her visionary leadership in the media industry, gave a poignant speech about diversity and community. Guests also received a special treat when the young, but very talented, Olivia Aniceto sang the National Anthem.
