Arthritis Foundation/YMCA Aquatic Program

A class designed to improve range of motion in the muscles and joints, and improve balance, as outlined by the Arthritis Foundation, Equipment will be used for support only.

Lap Swimming

At least 2 lanes are reserved for lap swimmers, at all times. No children under 8 are allowed in the lap lanes.

Water Aerobics

A moderate intensity class designed to produce cardiovascular and strength improvements.

Water Exercise

A low intensity aerobic class that uses a mix of rebounding and non-rebounding moves. This format bridges the intensity gap between Arthritis and other water classes and focuses on range of motion, and balance with some aerobic work. Equipment might be used for mild resistance.

Water Pilates

This class is based on the Pilates method using the natural resistance of water instead of gravity, making it easier on the joints. You will strengthen and stabilize the core muscles which include the back, abdomen, pelvic region and buttocks. Great for everyone, including those whose injuries have prevented them from participating in land based exercise classes.

Non-members may join the parent-child program. This is for families with two or more children enrolled in either the Papoose, Guides Princesses or Trailblazers program. The fee is $170 for non-members, please register only the dad.

Sycamore Canyon Campsite

Join the Ga-Sioux Nation at the Spring Family Campout at Sycamore Canyon from Friday, May 31 to Sunday, June 2. The fee is for one campsite. Each campsite can accommodate up to 8 people. The campsite fee also includes parking for one vehicle. Additional vehicles are permited but there is an extra fee that you will pay at the ranger station at check in. If you are coming in a RV or towing a trailer, please e-mail Josie at the YMCA so we can accommodate your vehicle. Tribes will be assigned campsites that are next to each other. This is a family event.

The Ventura Ranch KOA will be the site of our Spring Family Campout for 2013. The fee of $80 includes camping for up to 6 people and 1 vehicle. Additional vehicles are $10 for the weekend.

Kids get a chance to pump their muscles with light Dumbbells, Resistance Bands, Medicine Balls, and Physioballs. By taking this class our 9-11 year olds will learn about each muscle group, how to do a basic workout and learn how to properly workout.Taught by a Certified Personal Trainer.

The Mammoth Caravan will be held from July 27 - August 2, This is for children entering the 6th to 10th grades in the fall. Activities at camp include hiking, mountain biking, swimming, exploring and making new friends. This camp does fill up so sign up soon.

Santa Barbara Zoo Overnight 2013

Take a step out of the ordinary and jump into a wild adventure at the Santa Barbara Zoo! Campers will be lead through a series of exciting, hands-on educational activities including up-close animal encounters and behind-the-scenes explorations. In the morning campers will enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast, another up-close animal encounter with one of our zookeepers, a train ride, and creating a special breakfast treat for one the Zoo animals. We will then get a chance to explore the Zoo on our own and then return home. For children ages 6 to 12.

Whites Landing, Catalina will be held from August 6 to August 9. This camp is for teens entering the 7th to 10th grades in the fall.
