Skipper Program (ages 3 - 5)
Children first become acclimated to the water and advance at their own pace, allowing children to explore and to build their skills gradually while enjoying the water and developing confidence in their swimming skills. The program levels are:
Pikes
The beginner class for pre-school swimmer’s help first timers conquer their fear of water and/or deal with separation anxiety. Children will learn basic skills and gain confidence in the water.
Eels
These advanced beginners build on their comfort level in the water. Students will begin learning freestyle and backstroke fundamentals.
Rays
With an understanding of freestyle and backstroke basics these students will learn side breathing and be introduced to the breaststroke. Rays no longer use floatation devices and begin being self-sufficient in the water.
Starfish
The beginning advanced level will challenge students to increase their endurance by swimming at least 12 ½ yards. Stroke technique is refined and the breaststroke is learned.
Sea Horse
This is the advanced level for Skippers. This class will focus on endurance (swimming entire length of the pool) and competitive skills; butterfly is introduced and students will learn open turns.
