Y-Adventure Guides & Princesses Grades Pre-K - 5

Program runs Sept through June

The Y-Adventure Guides & Princesses program is designed to help parents and children set aside special time to spend together for going on adventures, meeting new friends, and creating memories that will last a lifetime!

The program is built on leadership and team building skills that help create a sense of commitment and belonging for parents and children alike. The program focuses on developing new skills, strong values and good habits in a fun and encouraging environment. This parent-child program supports the vital role parents play in a child’s life. Through Y-Adventure Guides & Princesses, parents continue to serve as a guide in a child’s life. Parents are given support as they lead, direct, influence, and teach their children while presenting opportunities for their child to explore their world.

Y-Adventure Guides & Princesses is for children Pre-K through 5th grade. Pairs are grouped into tribes according to child's age, gender and school, as well as existing relationships. If you’d like to start your own tribe, consider involving friends, neighbors, youth sports team members, etc. These small groups meet once or twice a month for a group activity which can include crafts, storytelling and games. Tribe meetings and events are planned and scheduled with your group members. Each family is asked to plan and host events throughout the season!

In addition to tribe meetings you will also have the chance to join in the fun of Nation Events. These events are planned by the YMCA and coincide with the school year (September – June). Nation Events are held monthly; some of the most popular events include a father-daughter dance and a weekend campout at Camp Emerald Bay. The Program Director and the Volunteer Leader of your tribe will inform you of upcoming events, activities and invite your active participation.
