Additional parking spaces, walking trail and

outdoor activity space coming soon!

We’re excited to announce that we’re beginning a renovation project that will have a positive impact on the entire San Pedro and Peninsula community. To help lessen the impact on our immediate neighbors and to provide more parking for our members, we will be creating 60 new parking spaces on our property. This will be especially meaningful for our Active Older Adults who arrive for classes during busy mornings. The canyon will be overhauled to include new walking trails and an outdoor multi-use space.

Construction Update 

Rain, rain go away! Our progress continues although we have had a few minor delays due to rain. Demolition is done and the import of new soil is also in progress. Thank you to several members that have started carpooling to help with parking congestion during the AM and PM busy hours. They are earning credits toward their membership fee! You can too, just let the desk staff know when you have carpooled. Thanks also to members who have been active in making suggestions related to parking concerns.  

What it means for you.

Our fitness facilities, programs and other services will be in operation as they are every day. You can count on us to keep you well informed about what is coming up, and have staff available to answer all of your questions.

Construction will start after 7 am and must end by 5 pm weekdays. Our evening and weekend membership participants will not be affected by construction. We are working to create additional parking off site for staff and those morning members who are inclined to burn a few extra calories on their way to class. We will continue to update you on options as they develop.

Plant a Tree for Someone Special!

A landscape plan is now on display in the lobby along with an opportunity to celebrate or memorialize a special person(s) through a pledge for a tree designated in their name. We expect to be planting trees in April. If you have a special someone, check it out!

Monthly Information Meetings

The San Pedro community and YMCA members are welcome to attend our monthly meetings to ask questions and stay up to date on the latest progress. Simply meet in the lobby at one of the times below:

How is this project being paid for?

This project is not funded by membership dues, but rather comes from our Repair and Replacement Reserves.
