Under the guidance of adult camp counselors and directors, our Camp Counselor-In-Training (C.I.T.) program assigns participants to cabins to act as leaders and mentors for younger campers.
To qualify as a Counselor-In-Training, teens must be entering 10th, 11th or 12th grade in the fall semester. Application forms are available both at our front desk or online, and required interviews take place in May.
“Having been a camper at the Y myself when I was younger, I was really excited to become a counselor and help kids enjoy their time at Camp. The training was a lot of fun and it was great to earn community service hours for high school.”
C.I.T.s receive leadership training and valuable volunteer hours that can be counted towards their high school graduation requirements. All participants must volunteer a minimum of five hours each day, from 10:00am to 3:00pm, and may volunteer more if desired.

Summer Resident Camp Registration in 3 Easy Steps!
Step 1. Apply for Financial Aid (Optional) Apply for financial aid directly through the South Pasadena San Marino YMCA by filling out the Financial Aid Packet and send it in. Once you are approved please go to step 2. (If you are not applying for Financial Aid, skip to step 2.)
Step 2. To register for the Leadership Camp your camper will need to complete a Leadership Camp application which can be obtained from the South Pasadena San Marino YMCA branch or you may contact Jordan Bell, Teen Program Director, at JordanBell@ymcala.org or 626 799 9119 for more information.
Step 3. Complete the Parent Packet, then submit to your YMCA branch.
