Youth & Government (Y&G) Model Legislature and Court program (MLC) is an exciting statewide high school leadership program designed to provide our youth with invaluable leadership skills and experience with civic engagement.

More than 2,000 high school students spend an intense 6-months in this life-changing program. Participants make remarkable strides in personal growth, civic responsibility and academics all while having fun, building lasting friendships, and making memories that will last a lifetime.

Teen delegates write bills, select governmental positions to role play, attend statewide training conferences and run for various elected offices. They also learn important skills such as public speaking, organization, problem-solving and time management.

The program reaches its peak in Sacramento at the State Capitol over President’s Day weekend. There, real government steps aside and the teen delegates take over, using the historic halls, chambers and offices of our State Capitol, Supreme Court and Governor’s Office.
