Private Lessons

The Torrance-South Bay YMCA offers private swimming lessons all year round.

Registration
You can register by calling 310-325-5885 x 2711. After receiving confirmation from the private lesson coordinator, you need to pay at the registration desk located in the main lobby. There you will receive a blue private lesson attendance card. Each lesson is 30 minutes. This card must be given to your instructor before the first lesson can take place. The instructor
will keep your card and track your lessons. Two students may register for a private lesson together only if their skills and abilities are similar.

Lessons
The Private Lesson Coordinator or the Assigned Instructor will phone the student or
parent to confirm the date and time of the first lesson. Lesson assignments are usually made
within three (3) working days. Please do not come to your private lesson until it has been confirmed. Parents of children taking private lessons must leave the pool deck to reduce the child’s distraction from the lesson. Parents are encouraged to watch lessons from the lobby
window.

One-on-One Private Lessons
Each lessons is 1/2 hour for one student. Students may register for 1 to 10 lessons, as desired.
Family Members: $25 per lesson
Youth Members: $32 per lesson
Program Members: $50 per lesson

Semi-Private Lessons
Each lesson is 1/2 hour. Two students may register for a private lesson together only if their skills
and abilities are similar. Students may register for 1 to 10 lessons, as desired.
Family Members: $40 per lesson
Youth Members: $60 per lesson
Program Members: $80 per lesson

Cancellations
If you need to cancel or postpone a private lesson, please notify the YMCA Private Swim Coordinator at 310-325-5885 x 2711 or the instructor as far before the lesson as possible. If
you cancel a lesson and do not notify the YMCA or the instructor at least 24 hours
before the scheduled lesson time, you will forfeit that lesson without reimbursement.

Refund Policy
It is your responsibility to get the blue attendance card back from the instructor if you are taking a break from lessons. You have up to two months to get a refund for unused lessons with the blue card in your possession. Refunds will not be given without the blue card.
