Westside Family YMCA

Building a Healthy Community Together

Future Home of the new Collins & Katz Family Y. The Westside Branch for the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angles Association.

WHY NOW?

The current Westside Family YMCA has been enriching the quality of life in West Los Angeles since 1941. This year over, 8,000 people — nearly half of them children and teens—will take part in Y programs and activities that promote youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

The Y has outgrown its current facility and no longer meets the growing needs of the West Los Angeles community. It’s time to expand, so we can fully engage our membership and friends and build a healthy community together.

A NEW Y FACILITY - Same Welcoming Y Community

Expanding the Y’s Impact Through an Innovative Partnership

As a result of a long and successful partnership with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), the new Collins & Katz Family YMCA will be a full-service, 62, 000 square foot, Y facility and parking structure on the campus of University High School, a Title 1 school in West Los Angeles. We’ll provide facilities to expand and support their future Physical Education curriculum. This partnership with LAUSD is a model for future collaborations of public, private, and non-profit organizations meeting the community’s needs as public schools are reducing or eliminating youth programs and activities.

A BROADER OPPORTUNITY TO CHANGE LIVES AND STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY

The new Collins & Katz Family YMCA will nearly triple its capacity to engage the community through programs that:

NURTURE THE POTENTIAL OF EVERY CHILD AND TEEN
Teen Center and Youth Activity Wing

  • Values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for life. The new Y will allow four times as many children and teens to explore their unique talents, take a greater interest in learning and make smarter life choices.

IMPROVE THE COMMUNITY’S HEALTH AND WELLBEING.
Two Indoor Heated pools, Exercise Studios, and Indoor Sports Court

  • The new Y will allow three times as many families to discover that invigorating, stress-reducing physical activity is not just affordable but fun—to the point that it naturally becomes part of the whole family’s daily routine.

HELP PEOPLE GIVE BACK AND PROVIDE SUPPORT TO THEIR NEIGHBORS.
Community Room, Conference Room, and Social Lounges

  • The Y is a spirit, a cause and a community—energized by a rich web of connections that develops when people of all ages and social backgrounds learn, play and grow together. The new Y will enable even more volunteers to lead and support its inspirational and life changing work.
