This is part of the LA Y&#8217;s&nbsp;continued efforts to provide free or reduced-cost swim lessons across Los Angeles County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These funds will directly fund swim lesson scholarships for the most in-need&nbsp;families that do not have any access to learning how to swim.&nbsp;&nbsp;YMCA Metropolitan Los Angeles (LA Y)&nbsp;operates&nbsp;27 centeres and 20&nbsp;swim&nbsp;facilities across Los Angeles County and teaches around 3500&nbsp;individuals&nbsp;to swim annually&nbsp;and has a strategic priority on family engagement.&nbsp;Of&nbsp;participants, approximately 25% require financial&nbsp;assistance, and 10-15% have a&nbsp;caretaker&nbsp;that cannot swim either. It is our&nbsp;mission to&nbsp;provide&nbsp;water safety and drowning prevention skills to all family units within Los Angeles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The USA Swimming Foundation vetted more than 345 applications through a competitive annual review process and chose 69 youth and 35 adult programs to receive funding.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe USA Swimming Foundation is thrilled to provide funding to 104 swim lesson providers across 29 states,\u201d&nbsp;USA Swimming Foundation Senior Director of Development Elaine Calip said.&nbsp;\u201cOver 14,000 individuals will now have the opportunity to learn the lifesaving skill of water safety across the country.
