Keeping Our Community Together

Greetings!

We enjoyed an amazing turnout for our first-ever “Drive Through Parade”- YMCA Healthy Kids Day earlier this month!!

Queue line before 6:30am when I arrived for set up, and the “parade” wound through our parking lot, up 20th Street, and down Victoria Avenue for most of our first 30 minutes.  All told, we provided amazing SWAG bags filled with fun activities and resources for over 250 families in the hour that we held our event, and tons of likes and positive comments both face to face and on our Facebook page; several live stream clips were posted @MontebelloCommerceYMCA.

After the last SWAG bags were distributed, we continued to have a slow trickle through 10:30 and we were able to provide those “late comers” with our last remaining coloring books donated by several community partners, many of whom had representatives volunteering here that morning.  Partnerships continue to grow and improve throughout.

Incidentally, in recent weeks we’ve gone from several “likes” and “follows” weekly to hundreds as our community continues to connect with our YMCA as a key partner in community building during this present time of trial.  So, a silver lining from this terrible storm we’re weathering together.

I hope you all stay safe and healthy,
