On April 10th, surrounded by mariachi music and the deep cultural roots of Olvera Street, the birthplace of Los Angeles, the launch welcomed government leaders, elected officials, community champions, and civic voices from both countries at the historic Avila Adobe to mark the milestone.

But, this is more than a moment—it’s a movement.

Built on generations of shared culture, family, and connection between Los Angeles and Mexico, this partnership turns that bond into action. Together, we are creating new pathways for impact across borders—ensuring that individuals and families feel a sense of belonging and access no matter where they are.

What this partnership looks like in action:

  • Reciprocal access across Y centers in LA and Mexico—so communities feel at home in both places
  • Youth exchange programs in sports—connecting young people, teams, and cultures
  • Expanded mental health and workforce development support—including bilingual care
  • Shared programs like Girls Empowerment Day—uplifting the next generation of leaders
  • Strengthening infrastructure and expanding reach to serve more communities across Mexico

Together, we are leveraging the full strength of the Y—our people, our partners, and our purpose—to deepen impact in both regions and beyond.

We already have proof of what’s possible. Just weeks before the press conference, more than 5,000 girls participated in Girls Empowerment Day here in Los Angeles, and 1,000 girls participated simultaneously in Mexico City. That kind of binational, coordinated impact had never been donebefore. And it is only the beginning.

This September, we will unveil a new cultural landmark in Los Angeles in collaboration with world-renowned artist Robert Vargas. This mural will serve as a powerful visual expression of what this partnership represents—unity, belonging, and a shared commitment to ensuring all people have access to be well, do good, and lead change

As Los Angeles prepares to welcome the world in the years ahead, this partnership positions the Y as a bridge—connecting communities, cultures, and opportunities on a global scale.

We are one team.

One Y.

Our Y.
