YMCA Leadership Certifications

YMCA Leadership Certifications are national-level professional certifications that are based on the Y’s Competency Model. The Competency Model is a visual representation of the 14 measurable skills and behaviors that every Y Team Member should master.

Leadership Certifications are available in 4 levels:

  • The Leader Certification: Designed for Team Members without supervisory responsibilities who are performing a direct service to members.
  • The Team Leader Certification: Designed for Team Members performing supervision with direct reports.
  • The Multi-Team Leader Certification: Designed for Team Members who regularly lead multiple teams of staff or volunteers with or without direct supervisory responsibility OR Staff members who provide tactical and operational leadership to multiple departments within a branch or association corporate office.
  • The Organizational Leader Certification: Designed for Team Members who provide strategic and visionary leadership to the organization.
