Event Details

The Weingart East Los Angeles YMCA Sprint Triathlon is more than a race, it’s a powerful celebration of community, health, and impact.

This event brings together individuals of all fitness levels to take on a meaningful challenge: swim, bike, and run in support of a stronger East Los Angeles. Whether you’re a first-time participant or a seasoned athlete, this triathlon is designed to inspire movement, connection, and purpose.

At the heart of this event is a simple but powerful belief: MOVEMENT IS MEDICINE. When our community has access to safe spaces, supportive programs, and opportunities to stay active, we all thrive, physically, mentally, and emotionally.

What to Expect

This is a unique, beginner-friendly triathlon designed to be both accessible and fun. Taking place across both indoor and outdoor spaces at the Weingart East Los Angeles YMCA.

Participants will complete three segments:

  • Run: A 5K route from our #WELAYMCA to the iconic Sixth Street Bridge
  • Bike: A timed ride on a stationary bike
  • Swim: 400 yards in our indoor pool

This event is based on completion, meaning it’s not timed and there are no rankings. Whether you go fast or take your time, the goal is simple: finish, have fun, and challenge yourself.

Perfect for first-timers and seasoned athletes alike, this triathlon is all about building confidence, moving your body, and being part of a supportive community. This event is open to all and you don’t have to be a member of the Y to register.
