MLC Leadership
78th Delegate Leadership
Each year the delegations across the state of California YMCA Youth & Government elect their leaders in the Sacramento conference. This year's leadership is listed below.

Violet Chin
78th Youth Governor
Violet is a filmmaker and activist passionate about media, storytelling, and social change. A student at L.A. County High School for the Arts, she has directed award-winning films and partnered with organizations like Get Lit to amplify underrepresented voices through the power of film. Her work in youth advocacy and public speaking has led her to roles with It Gets Better and Make Noise Today, where she represents youth on an international scale, using her platform to organize change among a younger generation. This passion has been funneled through her past three years as a delegate in the YMCA’s Youth and Government Program, with her skills culminating in her election as California’s 78th Youth Governor. In her term, Violet hopes to highlight diverse perspectives amongst California youth, using her position to encourage civic engagement across the state and dare her delegates to make social change representative of Gen Z’s electric political spirit.

Molly Stout
78th Youth Secretary of State
Molly is a rising senior at Miramonte High School. Molly has been involved in Youth and Government since her freshman year and she has had the honor of holding many leadership positions, such as her delegation’s President and Outreach Director, as well as the Deputy State Superintendent of Public Instruction for the Board of Education. This year, she also serves as a youth member of the Board of Managers. Outside of Youth and Government, Molly enjoys being an involved community member through her work as a Commissioner to welcome new students to her high school, volunteer work, leadership in clubs, working at an ice cream shop, and more. Molly values education, civic engagement, and unity- values which she hopes to bring to her work as Secretary of State. She is grateful for this opportunity and excited to learn and grow in her final year of Youth and Government.

Kayla Ring
78th Youth Chief Justice
Kayla is a dedicated advocate for justice and a passionate storyteller with a focus on social impact. As California’s 78th Youth Chief Justice, she is committed to educating the youth about both the elaborate structure of and shortcomings of the Judicial System, in hopes that her generation can make a positive change within it. Her commitment to freeing the wrongfully convicted is at the heart of her work as an intern with the Loyola Project for the Innocent. A student at the L.A. County High School for the Arts, Kayla combines her love for filmmaking and activism by producing documentaries that confront injustice and amplify unheard voices. Beyond the courtroom and the camera, she serves on the student board of the Palisades Friendship Circle, promoting inclusion for students with special needs, and represents over two million students on the LACOE Superintendent’s Advisory Council, where she continues to advocate for equity and access in education.
