Immigration Assistance
is Now as Close as the Y
At the Y, we help you put your best foot forward on the path to citizenship—supporting you with trusted guidance, community resources, and a welcoming space where every journey matters.

About this Program
YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles (LA Y) provides affordable immigration law outreach, screening, referrals, and application assistance—including limited representation—as the organization recently earned Department of Justice (DOJ) Recognition and Accreditation through the Office of Legal Access Programs (OLAP).
An organization is “recognized” when the DOJ gives a nonprofit permission to offer immigration services through Accredited Representatives. With the demand for comprehensive legal support higher than ever, this distinction allows the Y to directly assist some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
The LA Y is qualified to train staff as Accredited Representatives, increasing access to competent immigration services for low-income and indigent individuals and promoting fair and effective justice across Los Angeles.
Prevoiusly, this designation has only been held by one YMCA; the LA Y the second Y in the nation to enjoy this distinction. Recognition and accreditation is a part of our commitment to helping everyone reach their full potential to become happy, healthy, contributing members of society.
LA Y staff dedicated more than thousands of hours helping 500+ individuals file their naturalization applications. To date, we’ve served 4,000+ individuals and remain committed to expanding our reach.
If you or someone you know is a lawful permanent resident (green card holder) in need of help with naturalization, we can assist with:
- Help completing your naturalization application
- Assistance with fee waiver requests (if eligible)
- Referrals for legal representation, if needed
- Free study materials for the citizenship test and interview (including the 100 USCIS interview questions)
