Belong. Connect. Lead: Employee Resource Groups at the Y
At the Y, we believe that a strong, inclusive workplace begins with connection. Our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) bring together staff from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and interests to build community, foster belonging, and support professional growth. These employee-led groups create safe spaces for dialogue, drive equity-focused initiatives, and help ensure every voice is heard—because when our people thrive, our mission does too.
EMPLOYEE RESOURCE GROUPS
Employee Resource Groups (ERG) create supportive, inclusive spaces within the LA Y for staff at all levels and from all backgrounds. Through an ERG, you can find career & personal development tools, have fun, network, engage underserved communities, and make your mark by helping to facilitate change.

How the Fund Works
Since 1921, the YMCA Retirement Fund has operated for the purpose of providing retirement benefits for employees of participating YMCAs throughout the United States. The YMCA Retirement Fund offers two plans to help YMCA employees build their retirement savings: the 401(a) Retirement Plan and the 403(b) Savings Plan.
- The 401(a) Retirement Plan is based on age and eligibility.
- The 403(b) Savings Plan allows you the opportunity to start saving on day one of your employment and to increase or change your contributions at any time. Your contributions are invested by the Fund for the long-term.
The Fund invests your money from the Plan(s) across a diversified portfolio, designed to limit risk and ensure long-term stability. This investment approach supports the preservation of your account balance(s), interest credits paid to you, and monthly income payments upon retirement. Participant account balances have never gone down in value and retirement payments have never been missed, even in times of market volatility.
The Fund because is a safe, secure path to a lifetime retirement income. When you choose to retire, you can convert your account balance(s) in the Retirement Plan and/or Savings Plan to a protected stream of monthly income payments for the rest of your life.

“Growing up going to the Y, the staff members were like older siblings to me. I was the oldest sibling of my household, so it was very cool to have someone to look up and relate to.”
